Senior Kirsten Shimizu scored 23 points, including four 3-pointers, and juniors Kamie Imai and Jazzmyn Davis added 18 and 14 points, respectively, to lead the University of Hawaii at Hilo to a 77-68 win over Holy Names.

The Pacific West Conference women’s basketball game was played at the UH-Hilo gym.

The Vulcans improved to 5-6 overall and 2-3 in the PacWest. The Golden Hawks fell to 7-6 and 2-3.

Shimizu, a 5-foot-1 point guard, hit 8 of 13 field goals, including 4 of 7 treys, and 3 of 5 free throws for her game-high 23 points. She also had six assists and only one turnover in 36 minutes on the court.

Imai, a 5-9 point forward, finished with 18 points, nine rebounds, four assists, two blocked shots and three steals in a productive all-around performance.

Davis, a 5-11 forward, had 14 points, six rebounds and two steals to help the hosts, who led 43-28 at the intermission.

Britney Potestio led Holy Names with 16 points. Sonia Aguilar had 14 points and Dominque Williams 13 points and a game-high 13 rebounds.

The visitors outscored the Vulcans 40-34 in the final half.
